URGENT HELP pls

OK clio rsi bought 2 weeks ago from dealers, 3 months parts and labour warranty on gearbox and engine, 12 months mot and service

cars been fine, car gets lowered 2day at World Of Ice in Colchester, 40mm front and 50mm rear,

pick car up at 5:50pm and drive home, then go 2 drive 2 my m8s, nothings wrong, not ragging it at all, turn a rite corner then.............LOUD rubbing sound from rite front wheel, less than 10 miles after leavin World Of Ice

first thoughts were wheels caught arch badly, so pull over and get out on this hill on a corner, wheels r all fine, get back in car and it wont move

goes in gear fine and revs but no power 2 the wheels, gear stick goes in2 gear without using the clutch at all, so now im thinkin NOOOOOOO clutch as gone

anyway i have a m8 who has a purple landrover lol, (dont ask) anyway got him 2 come out wit another m8 and they use a nice fat rope and tow me back 2 mine, get out jack and jack up the front, there is a scraping sound coming from rite front of car

turns out 2 b driveshaft, first thought it had popped out, but RAC bloke says it looks like it has snapped, or the clip from the shaft 2 the cv joint has gone, garage job he says



So where do i stand ppl, 2 late 2 ring any1 as was 7:30 when i got in and England game on!!

I am guna ring World Of Ice 2mora and just say i lost all power 2 the wheels just 10 miles after leaving their place, say i aint happy and c if they will take responisbility, what shall i say do ya rekon??

also if they say it must av just been weak b4 then shouldnt they have noticed that?? otherwise my options r 2 ring other garages and get car towed 2 them, then they determine problem and fix it accordingly, which could take few days 4 driveshaft as needs 2 b got in probly



Anyway bit of a nightmare really, very helpful having a m8 with landrover though :) car looked very very nice lowered aswel, no rubbing either, although on fulllock front wheels hit arches slightly by looks of it

ok so pls can ppl give me opinions and if i have a leg 2 stand on really??

they r 100 miles away and will just say its wear and tear wont they?? only warranty for engine and gearbox, driveshafts i woulda thought wear and tear, i need it sorted asap really :-( its suck a C*nt, just when its lookin gd and runnin well

i will ring W.O.I and c what they say cos its gota b down 2 them, if they hadnt popped shaft back in properly could it have caused it 2 come out or snap?? or them playing around with it could have snapped the clip 2 the cv joint

guna ring world of ice first, then prob get nowhere so then ring a garage and get them 2 take a look at it

spoke 2 1 garage now, said that it could b CV joint, snapped shaft, or the clip, but would need 2 look at it 2 c, so basically if W.O.I r gay then i need 2 get RAC 2 tow the car to a garage and then them 2 look at it and decide whats wrong with it and fix it, all nice and expensive as i have work at 9:30 and very little time 2 sort everythin out really

guna b takin yellow pages 2 work lol, and guna have 2 leave the car keys with a neighbour aswel so they can give them 2 rac person, what a lovely day

ok car is now being towed 2 world of ice 4 them 2 look at, they rekon its not their fault though as they say they didnt need 2 pop the driveshaft out or anythin 2 fit the springs as its a renault and u dont need 2 with renualts he said????????? said with pugs u do?? r they full of sh!t, he took his time 2 ring me back so mayb was thinkin of what crap 2 tell me

anyway he said bring it in and hell look at it, so could be 3 things really, could have popped out, could have snapped, clip could have gone joinin 2 cv joint

anyway hopefully they will fix it as i an buggered without a car!!

RAC were being a pain in the arse aswel, they said i dont have home recovery so they tried 2 charge me extra and i said NO WAY cos i was told last nite by them that it would b fine, so gave them sum dodgy details 2 bypass system, so car is being picked up from round corner from my house and being taken 2 world of ice in about half an hour,

so they better fix the bugger,

at moment i rekon they wil say its not our fault and they will try 2 charge me aload 2 get it fixed, which i will prob have 2 do as i cant keep towing it around everywhere can i!!!

so not very happy and im at work aswel so prob pissing off my manager making loads of calls back and forth 2 ppl and not doing any work when were really busy AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
 


They DO NOT have to touch shafts to lower car! I have fitted full SPAX PSX shocks and springs to my Willy Hybrid and coilovers to my 172 and never touched the DS or anything near them.

Its not WOIs fault im affraid.

Oh and why have you lowered the rear -50mm and front -40mm?? Surely it should be the other way round!!

My 172 is lowered -50mm at the front and -40mm at the rear!

and my Williams Hybrid is -40mm front and -30mm rear!

Front is better to be lower then rear iirc

thought most ppl lowered rear more???

the front is lower than the rear still alittle anyway, they just did it so it looked level, but rear is still a little higher anyway

sure most ppl have lowered rear more m8

waitin 4 w.o.ice 2 get back 2 me soon afta theyve had a look at it, if its snapped then its just wear and tear, but if its just popped out of socket then its prob their fault aint it???

also could b CV joint clip thing, which im told is cheap 2 sort, and i take it that would/wouldnt b there fault???

having front lower than the back gives better handling, other way round will make it understeer more.

If the DS has snapped then its just one of them things Im afraid. As Smokey said, you dont need to mess with the driveshafts when lowering the car so Im not sure how it could be there fault.

ok i will pull my trousers down now and wait 4 it hard

spose at least driveshaft aint most expensive thing 2 go!!

still guna b £100-150 though probly aint it,

driveshaft £50-100?? labour £40 2 places have quoted me that
gearbox oil £10

will have 2 c if it needs a new shaft or if its a simple fix, hoping for it being popped out or circlip gone

must av been pretty weak 2 snap though, was only going about 30 round a slight corner, and if has snapped it must b rite basically in the CV joint part

just a shame really, spose was 2gd 2 b true, new car, running well on the rollers, getin lowered and lookin nice, all plans coming along, then naaa cant have life that easy, snap w**k c**k, just got in, in time 4 England match

yea but then i have 2 pay 2 have it unlowered, drive 100 miles and argue with the dealer where he will say its wear and tear wont he???

+ itll only cost max of £160 anyway, so unlowering and goin 100 miles will prob cost same if not more

Well basically they have said that the CV joint has broken in2 pieces

Which means new driveshaft, £121 for driveshaft and fitting

And then theres the chance that the passenger 1 will go aswel sumtime, but will av 2 go 4 just drivers 1 first, they r ordering it in now so I’ll get the car back 2mora evening which aint 2 bad

Bit gay though but cant blame them which is a shame, he said he’d go through things with me when I get the car and show me it all!
Stupid soddin driveshafts, always same probs 4 me, driveshafts/clutch over heating, always 1 of them lol

£121 sound about rite, he said £72+vat for Renault driveshaft, aftamarket 1s r £60 so may aswel go renault , and then theres the labour, other places this morning had said varied prices, £80 for driveshaft and then £40 labour most of them though so £121 sounds rite

Sounds like a resonable price

As for as pugs go well 205s anyway, you didnt "have" to take the drive shaft out it would just happen and deposit the bearings all across the floor! :cry:
