Urgent Help Required

  Mk1 Clio
Locked my car the nite with my clifford alarm.

Locked the garage and the alarm started going off but it was a stupid weak noise.

Car won't open and alarm has stopped.

Car started first time to drive car into garage so don't know if it can be car battery.

I can't get into the car any way I try.

Any clues ?

Used spare alarm fob to but nothing. :S

try using the key in the lock or have you had it de-locked?
other than that i dont know to be honest.

strange how the car started fine when you put it in the garage, yet the batt was dead by the time you locked it up?

not sure, if the batterys in decent condition (despite the discharge) than you really need to find out how it discharged so quickly.. there must be a wiring fault somewhere shorting the battery.

any one want to buy a locked valver parked in my garage ? lol

just been going through all the receipts i got with car new battery put on at renault london 30/9/05

any way in but smashing the window ? :(

is there anyway to release the bonnet from outside?? i reach up under the bumper and pull the release cable

i used to be able to release my 106 bonnet from the outside. the release cable went through near the wheel arch then across the front of the slam panel. which was handy if the battery died as that was delocked too. then the battery could be charged without having to get inside the car.

ah s**t just realised. valvers release the bonnet at the rear dont they..

Definately the Battery or connection to it... Theres no other logical reason for there to be a fainter noise.. Take the bumper off.. jack it.. undo the bonnet catch.. then charge the battery..

Thats the only way I can think of without doing damage..

yeah they open from the windscreen side.

this is a b**ch of a problem.

but as u say i need to learn how the battery has gone dead so quick.

i turned lights on and that before i started the engine they where not dim or flickering.

got any 'ICE' in the car?? any power cables that run though to amps that could have worn through and shorted on the shell?

if the car is delocked does it not have to have a mechanical way of gaining access (i.e the boot) in case of an accident/emergency? Could be just a bad connection on the battery to either the -ve or +ve.

  Mk1 Clio
still got lock on boot, but it won't turn. tried wd 40 in it that was about an hour ago still not turn. only turns a little bit but button presses in. just the head unit in the way of ice.

when i serviced the car i remember when i connected the battery back up the first time it didn't work and had to unscrew it and put it back on again and it worked perfect.

just hear we are now 3 weeks later and a dead car.

Coat hanger...

It's a pain... but can be done... (despite shielded locks).

RAC or AA know how to do it if you're a memeber.

Sometimes, the wires going to the battery get a loose connection with age..

I used to have to wiggle the battery cable on my 1.2 sometimes, to get it started.

Try going in from underneath, with a torch and a stick... and wiggle wiggle wiggle.

just readin up on the alarm,

it's got a warning system if car battery is going low.

didn't get that so am thinking dodgy connection !?

AA member. but only road side.

when you put your battery connections on again.. copper GREASE them up to get a good contact and reduce any possible corrosion on the metal terminal/clamp

  Mk1 Clio
i know one thing when i do whack the connection back on am going to need a new set of under crackers cause the alarm will go off once i get it connected and the siren is right above me head !!

got any ear plugs before you start??

may sound stupid and old but your ears and eyes are priceless.. best to take a minute to protect them.

  Mk1 Clio
that doesnt work

can't get anything in even near the battery.

so i'll just have to ring the AA said if i pay £36 they will get a man round in 45 mins (thats AA mins) lol

cheers for all the help guys !!!!

  Mk1 Clio
thats good news. i've just gettin option 300 AA cover for £80 in total.

Should be £131.

Least something good has come of this !

in the end.

Car is open. Was just the battery - lead being loose.

But now I can't reset the Alarm/Immoboliser and the engine is totally immobolised.

So gotta get my local alarm people out to either rip that one out (it's really old) and stick a new one in or get them to sort this one out.

I get alarms at trade price any ways so might opt for a new alarm.

Any one got any good alarms in mind ?

Clifford Concept 650 ? any good get that for about £420 fitted
