US Nintendo DS - Power Converter

The Mrs bought a Nintendo DS when we were in the US, bought a step down power converter when we were in the US, but they have sold us the wrong one, they have sold us a 500W one, which is for hair dryers etc, think we need one up to 45W.

Does anyone know if that is right? Also, where would be the best place to get one?

Bought my DS in Canada two years ago, when I got home I bought a a GAME brand UK DS power supply for about £6, never had any issues at all.

Got mine from Maplins mate... £4 it's for Japanese to UK but will work with yours just as well

It doesn't work, the plug just gets hot, but there is no power getting to the DS.

And thank you to other people, will pack her off there later on.

Isn't jap voltage a lot closer to UK voltage levels though? Thought Jap stuff was around 200, where as US is 110 isn't it?

Also, do the UK games work? A couple of people have said they wouldn't? Not that it is a big deal, will just get them shipped from the states if the UK games don't work.

Everything works afaik, we have a UK and US DS, games from all over the place etc and everything has been compatible so far.

Wireless gaming also works between our DS' despite the different "nationalities". I'm really surprised that a UK power pack doesn't work for you, I've never known anyone have problems.

But your DS doesn't take mains voltage, it takes 5.2V DC......

Get a replacement UK power supply and it'll work.

Cheers all, got a new power lead and everything is working fine now.

And even after buying that and a useless power adapter in the US, still worked out about £50 cheaper, lol.
