USB cards not working

  Breaking A 172 Replica
Purchased a new computer recently but the USB ports don't seem to recognise a device when it is connected.

Do the USB cards need their own driver? If so how can I go about finding this off the net, bearing in mind I don't know the make/model of the USB cards?

Thanks

Sam

Well the USB ports don't work. The USB devices (as in the stuff you plug into the USB ports) all work perfectly well on other machines.

Thanks

The motherboard will sometimes need the drivers installing, this is usually only if you don't have XP service pack 2 installed iirc.

If service pack 2 is installed then the drivers should already be installed

Some base units may have the USB ports on the front, but they are not always connected to the motherboard via cable (so don't work). There should be 2 ports on the back of the PC (in the motherboard) these should automatically work, and if you're using Windows XP Professional, then they should automatically recognise the type of device, if not the device itself.
