Using carnuaba wax over a sealant

  172 gone :( 197 now :)
Does it produce the same affect than just a wax straight onto paint? Or is it slightly less effective? How does it make the paint appear warm again if the sealant has already produced a cold reflective effect on the paint?

Anyone got any links to information on how sealants and waxes actually work and why they produce different looks?

A Pure carnuba will work fine over a sealant. As you say it will leave a warmer richer glow to the paint rather than the cold sterile look most sealants give.

I thought I had some pics of topped and untopped sealants but don't. I always end up using a wax over the sealant to be happy with the looks. The sealants leave the paint clearer looking, though ones containing Carnuba like EGP go someway to looking less cold.

The only advantage you may get of skipping the sealnt and using wax straight up is that you can use a glaze first, most of which contain lots of oils leaving a wetter look to the paint. Sealants won't bond to them though. The compromise is a glaze/wax routine won't in most cases last like a good sealant applied to clean oil free paint.

Would wax straight onto cleaned paint look better than over a sealant though?
If you wax your car all the time is it really neccessary to use a sealant?
Im only just starting to understand sealants and waxes etc but from what i understand sealants are used because they last so much longer? But if you were to wax often is there any need for one?

If you use wax over polished and glazed paintwork, chancers are it will look better than a wax over polished, sealed and waxed paint.

If you happy to wax frequently a sealnt is not needed. Most Carnubas will give 2-4 weeks protection - so a fresh coat in this period will keep the car looking good. I am going to ditch the sealants after polishing next time until winter.

You have understood correctly, sealants are a blend of products formulated to last longer - maybe 3-6 months in some case, but the trade off being a lack of ultimate looks. A lot of sealants look dull and washed out in bright sun.

Chemical Guys M-Seal for examplke left my Black looking greyish in the bright sun.

Right im off to learn about glazes now! lol Aint got a clue!
I polished and applied EGP again this weekend because i wasn't happy the first time i used it. I really worked the polish this time though and used much less EGP and it looks miles better! Very happy! My paints just like a mirror now its so reflective!
Going to do the 3 coats of it then missus is buying me some carnuaba wax for my birthday soon so hopefully ill get some depth and warmth then using it over the EGP.
I was looking at getting onyx?

Nice one.

Glazes leave oils on ther paint helping it look glossy, deep and wet.

3 costs seems optimum for looks and durability for the EGP. The Onyx would be my choice to :approve:
