V6 LAUNCH

Just a question for Jeremy really - how did it go? I was very disappointed that you didnt want me to carry your bags???!!!! :(

  Clio v6

Just rang my local dealers and asked if they where having a launch.

This is the conversation word for word.

Me.. "Good afternoon, can you please tell me if you are having a launch for the new Clio V6 255 at your dealership?"

Sales Executive?? "DAAno Mite" ( local Essex accent )

Me.. "Thank you for your help Goodbye"

I guess salesmen these days dont talk you into buying cars.

Dealers can be useless i know, and im not sticking up for them at all, but i bought one of the original V6s and to be fair my dealer was S**thot to say the least!!! Two lots of free tickets for the British motor shows, including hospitallity, free tickets for goodwood festival of speed plus hosp. and the V6 experiance day at MIRA, before you even agreed to buy the car. Mind you i had to wait 2 years & 11 months before i took delivery!!! Still, not bad for a major car manufacturer, remember this is Renault, not Porsche or Ferrari. I wonder what extras Fords RS or Vauxhalls VX220 customers get !!!!!!!

Ha ha! True...

Salesmen are useless! I went in to look at a saxo a little while back, they asked if I had considered insurance... Then when I told them I had a really good quote they said that I should go away and double check it! What the F**K?

Kathy

Where were you ? I said meet me at the airport and you didnt turn up ! The launch was fantastic. The coverage in todays Autocar and Auto Express is very positive.

When I was 19 I brought a 5 year old Rover 220GTi, I had to take my mom with me before they took me seriously enough to drive it. 18 months later I went back to the same garage to trade up to a year old 200Vi. The sales guy was stalling as usual saying we needed to do some paper work before I drove it, so I said I had a part ex. He asked what, I pointed at the 220 and he shut up and got the keys.

Same think happened when I test drove a 106 GTi. I wasnt taken seriously until they saw what I was chopping in.

As for Peugeot when I brought the GTi-6 the main dealer in Birmingham was so bad I complained. I took great pleasure in telling them I purchased an identical car for a much better price from an enthusiastic and knowledgeable sales man from a Pug dealer in Cov.

Audi didnt take me seriously either. The Subaru dealers on the other hand have let me rag the arse off a WRX, WRX STi and a P1. The P1 had only done 600 miles!!! I just left them the keys to my company Focus and off I went :)

Jeremy, did they give you any indication to choice of colour on the side air intakes. i.e. colour co-ordinated and not silver as a no cost option??

No, the side intakes are Titanium on 3 colours. It shouldnt be too much of a job to paint them afterwards but the factory doesnt offer the choice. They look better in the metal than pics

sat in the new one at motor show last year. didnt like airintakes on that one either!! blue on order at the mo but understand they might be doing the titanium as a body colour?? this was what i originally ordered on my phase one but was told TWR couldnt spray this so if i wanted silver would have to settle for Iceberg.

Jeremy - damn the email system - still next time eh??!! already read the write ups ! I want one, but .... well my baby is still absolutely the best I have ever had, so it would have to be an extra and maybe that is just tooooo extravagant!!!

kathy, i had a 172, sorry, my wife had a 172 and there great, and to be honest there is not alot of difference in straight line performance either, but as EVO mag said "The Clio V6 should be stamped with a goverment health warning". Go on, treat youself, youll never look back, well only in the mirror!

Titanium is much brighter, glittery. Iceburg is quite a flat grey IMO, looks ok in full sun if very clean.

I found the Titanium subject to tiny rust spots and the paint seemed to be very thin.
