v6 or r26.r

If they were both sat next to each other, standard for standard and it wasnt about money, it would be hard choice as ive experienced the v6 and would love to try the R26.R

If it was my cash, it would 100% go on the v6.

I would take the v6, no doubt a great car to drive and it looks unique. The r26r is no doubt great to drive as well but it just looks like a modified r26.

The R26r is a "track focused" car and it's rubbish,I'd rather push a shopping trolly around Tesco's.V6 very nice, but the cost of anything that goes wrong would scare me to death.

R26R... The V6 is a pointless car.

I love it so much but until I have a garage full of my ultimate cars in a collection I'll never own one.

Not fast, cost a lot to run, don't handle, no practicality etc etc etc.

At least the R26R goes well and goes round corners well! I'd prefer to live with the buckets and harnesses everyday then be disappointed with the performance of my supercar costing hatch back.

First time I've ever heard of the R26R being slated!

I say this with the respect knowing what cars you have etc but what is rubbish about it!?

I agree.

After giving one a dam good thrashing around Bedford,I was left wondering what all the fuss was about. The car doesn't seem to know what it wants to be.
What makes it a track car, roll cage?.Its a very expensive compromise,I didn't have any expectations before I got in it,but after about 15 mins I was left thinking is that it,lets put the radio on,have a smoke and put my arm out the window.

This is supposed to be a track car that you can use on the road, far from it.Handling wasn't as sharp as it should be,understeered like Bambi on ice and when they said the exhaust was nearly £2k,what the f..k is all that about, some pikey will only come and saw it off anyway.

No sorry, Renault got it wrong I'm afraid,it could have been so much better.

Anything else? I was expecting more of a slating actually for my comments, most people see a red rollcage and start to masterbate.

All the above is just my opinion of course and doesn't mean anybody that has one or want one are w**kers.

Interesting but it would appear you are in the minority. Other than it not being practical in almost every way, it has got nothing but praise in terms of performance.

How do you explain the fantastic track times if it's not a track car, tyres aside?

No offence Tony, but I understand you are familiar with pretty much race prepped cars? Fairly sure Lewis Hamilton would say an Exige is s**t. No?

lol, thanks Roy but Hammy I'm not.
What happened to the single make championship for Megans?never happened.I just expected to WOWed by it,just a car with a rollcage to me.

Yeah well. In this case I can be forgiven for not taking your opinion on board. God only knows what your opinion of a more normal road/track car on road tyres would be!

You said it majorly understeered and wasn't sharp...

That was handling not performance.I don't expect to have to drive a car for half a day to get the best out of it(not something like this anyway)usually 4-5 laps and I'm away.

I would probably say it was good fun Roy.I keep saying it was marketed as a Track focused car and charging a mint for it.

But surely it's still one the quickest hatchbacks ever made? That said, I fully appreciate that an Exige or the like will be quicker in the corners.

If it's your only car - neither.

If you want a second car for the track - R26R.

If you want a second car for the road - V6.

The Megane is one of the ugliest cars ever. It's track capabilities are excellent, however.

The V6 is a car like no other - it is an occassion to drive and I love every second of driving it. It is ridiculous and nothing like it will be tried again I doubt - which is what makes it so special. Might not go as fast as it should, but on the road is handy enough in the right hands.

Good to be discussing more than one crazy effort by Renault.

I was just giving my opinion as I had driven both,if we all liked the same thing it would be boring wouldn't it.Go drive one and see for yourselves, you may love them but I had more fun driving Warrens clio around Oulton Park.
