Does anyone know what the i should torque the subframe bolts upto? Did them not long back so they were tight but clunking again, just don't wanna over tighten them and brake something!

Keep going till you shear the heads off. Then you'll know you've gone too far.

I'm full of helpful answers tonight :approve:

  Better than yours. C*nt.
f**king tight. IIRC, put a big bar on it, push hard, stick a bigger pole onto that, and push as hard as you can.

I dunno if it is the subframe but something back there is clunking! When i stop then pull off again there's a clunk and over bumps and stuff

Mine's always clunked moving off. Don't think anything's broke, just you don't usually hear it in the car!

Ah so longs as its not just mine then! Though i've heard that when the subframes loose the back end feels more lively and it has done lately!

That could be down to the weather to be fair or maybe i'm just a bit paranoid.

Keep meaning to get it down to Fred for a poke around to make sure its all bolted together right but had to buy tyres and the heater fan resister last month, got tax this month! I'll never have money!

It's alright, if you take it down this month you'll get your invoice... Some time when he surfaces from the cars! Lol!

Must be pretty common then, at least its not something important coming loose ;)

No it hasn't..! lol

It did however make a slight clunk when reversing off my drive, only reversing mind.. which I rarely did as the car had to be reversed into the garage to be able to get out of it lol, and it only happened twice in over 2 years. Real odd one, as I couldn't replicate the noise at all either. I had the car MOT'd twice in that time and mentioned it to the examiner but nothing was found. I also took it to Scott's who checked the bolt and it was fine..

Odd...

Hope its been behaving Mike!, and you're still enjoying it.. :)

It seems that Vee's 'can' suffer from loose rear subframes... to devastating consequences if left un-tightened. This 'may' have been the reason for the loss of one of the 8 Acid vee's a couple of years back. iirc.

Good point actually - it is when reversing and not moving forwards! Sorry, it's cos I have to have 2 goes at getting out of my space... Lol!

It's a clunk when reversing - forwards is fine. Although it's not done either in 2 weeks :-( missing it! But sod driving in the salt and snow...

You should see mine :( its filthy! I recon there is enough salt on the back end to dip you're chips in to be honest..

  V6 255, 172's, JCW,
Has it become more frequent then Mike..? I put it down to the whole car moving over two un-level surfaces, as you might recall my drive being on a bit of a hill. Being a bit an4l about the car, I made sure everything it might have been was checked thoroughly, but nothing was found to be loose or out of place.!!

Missing mine too.. cant wait for the weather to clear up! Its not been out of the garage since the Goodwood meet way back last year.. lol

Whilst were on the subject of wierd noises and clunking my front end skips when on full lock moving slowly sometimes, is that normal too?

Just another little idiosyncracy (spelling) of the vee.. Heard of a few owners pointing this out.

  V6 255, 172's, JCW,
Just pray the fix isn't to grind the hole in the turret bigger

If its not a problem.. why try and fix it.. ;)

Pretty sure it only happens on full lock and in certain conditions.. Only had it once on both of my vee's. Even had it on my 182 that was brand new at the time.. not a problem imho. :)

If its just one of those things then its okay, just making sure my car isnt going to fall apart during 9 point turns.
