In 6 months I will be 18 with a years no claims (if i dont crash!) and pass plus. Is there any chance of getting insurance on a valver tpft for £1600 or less? Thanks Sam

Get yourself to the local Institute of Advanced Motorists. You should be able to pass the test within 6 months, and it will do you good to do it now as you are still on the learning curve and havent (shouldnt!!) have many bad habits yet!
Once passed you should hopefully get at least a bit off the insurance and, even if you dont, you will be a safer driver therefore reducing the risk of crashing and having to claim, which will save you money in the long run.

A valvers quite a powerfull car to be having at 18 so my only advice is "go steady" i was only 10months away from getting full NCB and i wrote my 172 off in some style...

Out local one was doing reduced-price, or even free, courses - you have to pay for one book thats about a tenner (that Im sure you could get cheaper off ebay or one of the traders off Amazon)* and the weekend tuition that the other members give you is free. Its the test and yearly-membership thing that costs but they have been doing it cheap to get younger members in. Even if you have to pay full price its still under £100 for something that could save your life and wallet many times over.
If you could get in and work hard and pass before your 18th birthday theyd love you as youd be one of the youngest members and give them good promotional opportunities!
One thing I will say is that, like life, there are differing opinions within the organisation. e.g. my tutor understood that I didnt buy an RS Turbo to pootle to the shops and do dead on 70mph in but others are of the view that the limit is the limit, end of story, so I hope you get lucky! You can always adapt your skills once youve passed anyway
