Valver Roll Cage

  Suzuki SV1000S
PIcking car up tonight with it fitted hehe!

Quick question - Anyone reccommend how to paint it lol - I got them to fit it before I painted because if it hadn't of fitted I wouldn't have been able to send it back to italy painted.

Guess I will have to paint it using a brush - Or will it not show rush much - Anyone got one that can shed some light for me!

I originally thought it was going to come in yellow but it is just plain silver at the mo. and I would quite like to paint it orange to stick out inside the black car..

shoudl have paintedit outside really so that you can spray all round it.. i can see your going to miss bits on the tight spots..

unlucky!

painting it with a brush will leave nasty brush marks on it no doubt!

you really need to take it back out and have it spray painted

think the best idea for fitting is trial fit cage
mark up areas for welding the reinforcing plates in
remove cage
weld in plates
paint cage
refit cage, bolt through/weld as required.

Just leave it unless it rusted in which case get it welded up and then pain over it.
If you want take it out the car and clean it down to metal and spray it all but its a pain to do.

pic looks wicked by the way, is the rear diagonal fixed?

It is adjustable mate - I think if it does rust then I can easily take it out now as the bits that have been welded are actually welded to ther car and then the cage is bolted to that.

Only issues at the minute is that it is even harder to get out of now lol!!

You can't fit a roll cage painted....ffs *rolls eyes*.....welding is a hot process, heat + paint = no paint anymore

Just either spray the whole interior of the car the same colour inc the cage, works in rally cars, or just paint it wiht a brush or spray tin with a bit of cardboard of something held behind but not touching the bar

wheres the pics mate???

unless its a 100% weld in spec cage, then usually you weld the plates to the car then bolt the cage to the strengthened plates!

thats how mine fits, but its getting powdercoated first.

p.s how much did fitting cost pal???

well no s**t sherlock but not all cages are weld in..
hence why i said to do this for a bolt in cage:

God knows!

Adam, My pics are about W**k really but here they are anyway.

The supperting metal bits are welded in to the car and then the cage is bolted to them yes! But still a mission to remove it as all seats etc have to come out...

If I leave as it is will it rust or not..?

looking good mate!!!

so its a full cage then, does it go through the dash too and along the front sides of the roof?

it would prob be best taking it out, or, you could gut the car, and stray it inside but make sure you take your time, and cover everything up!

how much was fitting costs mate if you dont mind me asking?

cheers

£235 with a christmas discount too - ouch.

Doesn't go through the dashboard that is why I got this one as didn't want to cut the dash - Has the side impact protection bars though for when I get my carbon fibre doors - which is all that counts hehe

its a right mission removing a full cage.. have to twist it and manouver it alot.

but i would personally do it, have it painted, then refit it.

I do want a yellow / orange roll cage sticks out more eh!!

I may try painting a little bit with a brush first (somewhere you can't see easily) and see how it comes out as would be sooo much easier - any paint you guys recommend I try (orange or yellow)
