Very cheap 197.

Yeah these are starting to drop quite a bit. Really like the look of them, but reckon it would be an underwhelming experience owning one.

They've hit rock bottom, the age is killing them people don't want to fix the issues that are creeping up with them and would rather just sell on.
Especially with the popularity and availability of the 1*2 still, there's not a mega desire for the 197. The 200 is holding up better but they're still dropping also IMO

Still a ways to go yet, I'm sure they'll bottom out at the £1000 mark like the 172 and 182 before them did.

They're excellent value for money at todays prices though

Fair enough mate - i wouldn’t say its an inherent thing of 1*2’s to be fair? Not something i’ve seen as an issue anyway!

As above, wear on the drivers bolster, peeling steering wheels and there's a few now with very rusty radiator supports and a few bits underneath

Many 197's kangaroo when cold unless you get it remapped, I hated ours when it did it. The 200 was better.
Both cars needed bottom ball joints, and engine/gearbox mounts, one had a new gearbox and a cracked manifold repaired. The cup had Recaros which wore fast as did the peeling steering wheel. Think the steering racks can give up too.
We've had a 172, 182, 197 and two 200's. I've just bought the wife another 182 as that was her favourite.

Doesn't every car have issues somewhere . The ad is what it is cheap 197 for someone. If they like the little Renault they fix the issues along the way

Very true, my old Audii TT permanently had issues!
It's a cheap car as long as you factor in repairs.
