very stupid question but i have confused myself?

  CLIO PH1 172
i have got myself confused. Is there anywhere that i can find a guide that tells me the order to clean my car in? stupid question, yes i know!

i do everything by hand

my normal steps are

jet wash
snow foam
agitate
hose off
2bm
clay
hose
dry
polish (srp)
buff off
DONE

but i know this is pointless as im giving it no protection without waxing it !

iv got some collinite 476, but i want to do a proper job of it and get in to detailing a bit more, after looking at new products and reading a few bits im confused as to were glazes, pre-wax cleaners, sealents ect all come into my normal process of cleaning?

could somebody help me please:eek:

You don't agitate snow foam buddy.

And the wax will come after the SRP.

SRP is a filler polish, so you're already filling some of the swirls. You could add in a glaze after SRP and before the wax, if you so wish.

asabove dont agitate the snow foam there is no need but i wash also after snow foam and use a detailing brush to get in all the grill window seals and below spoiler

and then wax afterwards

what do you do with the snow foam ? i normally use a small bush and go around the badges and bump strips ect to loosen some of the dirt??

what about glazes and pre wax cleaner do i need these and also sealents ? i want to start using more product to get an even deeper shine

thanks

Yeah mate they are confused, that's the correct thing to do. Agitation is amust around badges and trim.

In regards to the other question use a glaze after you pre-wax cleanse.

As you are using SRP you don't need a pre-wax cleanser but i'd still glaze and then wax. The collinites will last until you are dead.

ahh ok so wash as normal then srp > glaze >wax ?

is it worth doing anything twice maybe glaze twice? or a couple of coats of wax? what will give me a deep shine? (titanium silver btw)

You're going to struggle for extra shine on silver mate. Just SRP > GLAZE > and for sake of it 2 layers of 476. :)

What I can suggest is if you want to get into detailing research the Werkstat range from Polished Bliss. Go onto Detailing World.
It's the best possible stuff for silver. Do research and then do some more! It's worth it.

I don't use snow foam for agitation around badges and grills as I don't believe the product contains enough lubrication.

Snowfoam, rinse, wash 2BM, use Megs HyperWash in a spray bottle for the difficult areas with a soft detailing brush, then move on to the usual.

Give it to Steve@R-Sport.

£50 will get it machine polished and looking SPANKING.

Buy PW, snowfoam lance/liquid, some decent wax (R222, 476S etc) and be done with it.

He did Dan's M3 in April or May last year, and its still looking amazing even though it's not really been cleaned much since July !

Ho. x

something like this?

http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/werkstat-acrylic-jett-trigger.html

i would do two coat of this as they describe then 2x collinite on top?

Spot on lad. The Werkstat Prime stuff is superb, as mentioned in other threads, for things like britework, doorshuts and other hard to reach places.

I wouldn't do the wax on top, personally.

Steve has a very good reputation as a car dealer... but for £50, I would worry about his knowledge of paint depth and correction. But I am not taking anything away from him!

You need to research the werkstat range as I said mate.

Paint correction for £50?

Seriously? Over how many days. If you say 1 i'll post "PMSL!"

but where's the satisfaction of handing someone £50??

you say you wouldnt wax over the top ? so when should i wax ???

Do you think all detailers are as cautious/suspicious as you and I, Kev? Or is it just the number of threads I've seen entitled "I took it to BwaB and now my paint's fucked"?

The Werkstat stuff is a sealant lad. So it negates the need for a wax.

Waxes and sealants come under the umbrella of LSPs or Last Stage Products/Protectants. They do the same thing (seal your paint) but have different qualities and benefits. Sealants last a lot longer than most waxes. Waxes tend to look better.

But in this case, 476 will last a long time but look flat. The Werkstat will also last a long time, but will be easier to apply and will look a hell of a lot better.

Yes mate and quite rightly so. I don't paint myself to be 100% correction detailer so I don't offer my services as that.

If somebody is claiming to do 100% paint correction for £50 and 8 hours work they are lying. It's simple as that.

ahhhhhhh now it makes sense i was under the impression a wax lasts longer than anything and should always be the last product to apply i never new a glaze would give the same protection, thanks iv been having a quick scan through DW and it seems blackhole is another well respected product that offers the same ? thoughts..

Blackhole is a glaze. No protection.
Werkstat is a sealant. Offers protection.

A glaze offers no protection.

Hi x

so it just lasts a long time so i am better off waxing over the top?

No. SRP>Blackhole>Werkstat :)

Yes because it contains a small amount of abrasives. I don't want to confuse you with any other products, but the prefered route for me would be Lime Prime, Blackhole, Werkstat. Purely because Lime Prime is a better product than SRP.

OK, LP is fine by hand. P1 however might be better. If you're open to other products, may I suggest the following;

Wash
Clay
Wash
Dry
P1 or Lime Prime
Blackhole
Werkstat Acryllic Trigger

haha yes im open to other products why would i not be, iv not had any bad experiences yet lol

thanks for the help il do some more research and get a little shopping list posted ;)
