Vibration at 4,000rpm

Ive had to book my car into the renault dealership to get an annoying rattle from what sounds like the exhaust when I hit exactly 4,000 rpm. Funnily enough on the evo website they also had the same problem with their 172 cup on long term test.

Has anyone else had this problem?

yeah its common mate and i bet you its the middle box causing the rattle.

if you can get the car on a ramp or get under it give the middle box a whack with a rubber mallet and you will hear the baffles rattling around

It's a well known fault. Many have had it on here, I think it needs a new mid-section to stop it IIRC.

Well this doesnt sound promising as the guy at the dealership said it is the backbox and thats what he is going to order in! Argh!
