This is the 2nd engine I've had. Dead chuffed with this new one, only 81K, no oil usage, quiet top end and pulls much better.

My last engine did this too.
It happens everytime I start it and stops when the engine gets to full temp. It once happened after driving in the rain.

The engine is standard apart from the viper. Brand new oil and coolant (good stuff too).

I need to sell this now to afford the insurance on my 172 and I have to get a good price for it.

any suggestions?

Does it drive poorly?

A customers car did something similar it turned out to be the ignition module/coil, it was dropping into the 9's for AFR and rich stalling before it picked itself up.

lol thats exactly what my valver was doing a couple of months ago. Turned out my ecu was fucked, £30 later (thanks to winston) and back to normal. Hope this helps.

cheers for the suggestions guys
I'll have a look at HT leads and the coil pack. If it was the coil pack that would explain why it has been doing it on both my engines

PROBLEM SOLVED :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

It was the lambda sensor. Picked up a nice new NKG for £54 and now it idles perfect, drives better and is more powerfull and responsive across the rev range.

SUPER CHUFFED
