please dont, i see a white z3 every morning on the way to work, i just does not suit that colour at all, makes it look even more dated.

So what happens come the time you want to give the car a detail? How does vinyl wrapping fair with the elements?

Read the thread on Detailing World dude ^^^^

the guy goes through that it can be detailed fine

u can remove the vinyl without damage. To restore value when selling for example.

And yes its considerably cheaper than a respray

For a personal car... I wouldn't.

The 330d here is wrapped white with company decals on it, it's got a few chips from motorway pebbles and one has gone down to the metal, that means wrap off, paint cleaned, damage repaired, new vinyl on.

We also had some lads in to do a customer's 996 Carrera in white (it was blue). It looks good, but it's just been done, and when it gets damaged then it'll have the same problem.

Alright if you have some money you want to get rid of though. (Takes a while to take off too, so it's no good for bank jobs either).

It's not actually a vinyl wrap per say, it's real paint in a stretchable wrap hence why it can be detailed, They're testing this new system before they start chargin the earth for it.

Its not a vinyl in the conventional sense its BASF car paint with some magic ingredients that allow it to be stretched up to 15% (stretching dry paint who would have thoght it) it has a 2mill clear coat and in paint correction terms you are safe to play with a quarter of that (more than enough for several cutbacks during correction).

He also states that it would also be an advantage to apply the PPF to area's prone to stone chips.

If i had the money for this i would deffo be gettin it done. :D:D

Got a quote on my x-type for £1600 for an white/black wrap all over.. thought it would be much cheaper,

For that price I can do a 4 day course for £1000 on car resprays and then do the actual job myself.
