Virgin Cancellation

There's a massive thread on sky cancellation with deals offered so thought I'd start a virgin one.

When I moved in my house I took up a friends and family deal from a member on here. I was paying £45 a month for 200mb fibre, all channels, and sky sports. It was an 18 month contract, however that price only lasted for 12 months. For the past 7 months I've been paying £86 a month, and I'm now out of contract.

We hardly watch TV so I'm kinda begrudgingly paying the £86.
What can I expect if I ring and cancel? If I can get the same again for £45, but on a 12 months contract then I'll stay. If not I'll look elsewhere and probably end up with freeview.

Any experiences?

I also signed up to virgin media with mates rates from the member on here and I started off paying £26.99 a month for phone, broadband and tv which then went up to £35 after 12 months which I was fairly happy with.

We had a price increase a while back and I've just received a letter today saying there will be another price increase of £3.49 which is just getting expensive now. I will be paying just a smidge under £50 for their basic package.

I'm also going to think about my options and see if I can get it cheaper or I will cancel it.

Mine has gone up to nearly £40 a month for the internet alone! However I just have Netflix, Prime and Now TV which tbh is all I need. As I can use them whilst in Saudi.

Tried to wangle a broadband upgrade recently and they wouldn't budge. In the old days they seemed a little flexible.
I pay £38 a month for broadband only, vivid100 and have amazon prime which works for us. Kids use their tablets and we watch catch up on the smart tv so other than freview don't need loads of telly channel.
Be surprised if they put you on another promo contract but you can only ask.

Yeah I know it's not great. I do get vivid 200 as part of the mates rates but other than that it's just the basic package.

The price has gone up so much in just over a year, like I said I started paying £26.99 12 months promo price that has now risen to £33 as a new customer. I was then paying £35 after that which is now £48 which is similar to what I will be paying when this new price increase starts.

Even new customers are being charged a lot of money for the service so I'm doubtful they will knock any money off my bill.

And people wonder why Kodi is so popular

We only use them for broadband as BT uses bits of wet string for phone lines in our village, but also had a letter today saying it's going up £3.00 a month.

Maybe its time to cancel and subscribe in another name.

I'd happily pay the £86/m just to avoid Kodi tbh
You either watch a lot of live TV (which I find streaming shite for) or you're using a shitty build of Kodi on a FireTV Stick which is unresponsive at the best of times.

Also try Terrarium. It's getting better and better at the minute.

I'd love to go for Virgin but they don't supply too much round here. But good broadband, Netflix, Prime, streaming and freeview are definitely the way to go. Don't know much about Now TV but it seems like freeview with very expensive day passes for certain channels?

I don't use Kodi myself, I just know folk who do (using decent kit) and they have regular issues.
I have Sky Q (which only costs me £35 a month for 2 boxes and all channels) and VM Vivid 200 BB. I use Plex for downloaded content streaming.

Works well enough for me, and I can't see what I would be gaining by moving to Kodi, in fact I'd lose functionality as I currently have my Plex server shared with about 10 people.

Depending what you want, nowtv is decent. You can get it for £3-£5 a month for either the entertainment or movies pack, by buying a new box every 3-6 months when they're on offer.
