Volume control

hi everyone,

since yesterday i cannot listen to my radio/cd because the system turns itself to max volume as if i had my finger on the + button constantly. i dont have a clue what it is but when i took out the wire for the hand controls on the steering column it then stopped but i am unable to see what track or station i am listening to on the dash?! anybody had any experience with this? please help.....and no i cannot listen to it a max volume because the quality deteriorates severly!

dunno if its related but it could be the speed wire, connected to the dials.
when my unit is set to get louder the faster i go, it works fine untill i stop then after a minute or so the volumme goes all the way to maxx,even if i turn it down it keep increasing (without increasing the volum numer only changes if i change the colume but it gets louder) then after about 3 minutes it drops back to normal.

dunno if its to do with the engineer cooling or what but it takes me by surprize becaus ei for get its going to happen but it always does lol.

short term fix, slide out stereo, unplug steering wheel controls, put stereo back in.

probably try to borrow another stereo before i start ripping the car apart.
