Volvo V40 R-Design D3

I know Volvo's don't get much love on here unless they're old/turbo/estate but I thought I'd post it up anyway! It's a MY13 Volvo V40 D3 R-Design Lux Nav in Passion Red with all the gadgets, it's a big improvement in quality over the 125 Ecoboost Fiesta ZS I had before. The 5 cylinder diesel engine sounds great too and I'll try and upload a video. The car completely standard and all I've done is remove the boot badges and add some clean borderless plates. I'm tempted by a remap to take it up to 200bhp but I'm more than happy with it as it is (for now at least).

It's the 2.0 150bhp Scott, I don't think they do anything above 2.0 in the diesel V40's. Is yours in the S60 the 2.4?

Yes mate, 2.4 D5 auto. Its only the 163 bhp one but its got bags of grunt.

Its the wife's car so she doesn't need anything faster tbh.

Nothing to update really, the car has had its 3 year service and two new tyres on the front last month. Here's a quick (crap) video clip of the 5-cylinder diesel exhaust sound.

We had these as area cars at work for a while.

Absolutely cracking cars.

We had autos and when in sport mode they went like s**t off a shovel.

Some of the bigger blokes at work used to moan the Volvo's were a bit small and that they were always banging their heads on the door pillar when getting in and out. I never had any issues because I'm slender and short.

In that case, it's probably a detuned D4. Which means that a remap will take you to what a D4 maps to i.e. 200+bhp.

Yeah the stage 1 is 174 (to take it to the D4 map) and stage 2 is around 215.

I like modern Volvo's, they have definitely lost the "old man" image of years ago.
