Hi I am new here so Hi to everyone, I have just purchased a 172 cup on a 52 plate, my mileage is 70,000 with full service history every 12,000 miles, everything is fine except my stop warning light with the oil pressure light stays on? I have topped up the oil but this has made no difference I was wondering if anyone could advise me on this of what the problem could be, I phoned renault to ask for thier advice but they just said bring it in and we can have a look but it's £120.00 an hour just to look at it, Thanks for your help and advice it will be really appreciated. oil sensor by the sounds of it but edde will be along soon with his knowledge

for a cheap attempt to fix yourself try an oil pressure switch. the f engine is good and i doubt its anything terminal. if the switch doesnt fix it you need your oil pressure testing.

It will either be the oil switch as shown with the red circle ensure it is connected properly. If the oil has been over filled and then dropped the light will still stay on - check the dip stick too.

The thing is I don't know if this makes a difference but it doesn't stay on when ticking over just when i drive along?

try a switch if that doesnt work then from your symptons the oil pump strainer could be partially blocked.

dont think about the worst case yet. try a switch and cross that bridge when you come to it.

does anyone know how to test the switch? also how much do you think the switch will cost?
