Warning lights, need advice

Wondering if anyone can help me, I have 2 warning lights on on my dash, the oil can and the stop light, when I start the engine every thing is fine untill i press the accelerator and theese lights come on, I've topped up all the fluids and changed the oil and brake pads, any help would be much appreciated.

im no mechanic, but when this happened to me, i just topped up the oil until the lights went off

have you definately got enough oil?

went to a garage and had them do it, but i take your point, no reason to assume they did it correctly, thanks, I'll go and check it now.

oil is up to the top notch on the dipstick. any more suggestions?

i bet they've knocked the wire off the low pressure switch on the block near the filter (or damaged it)

if its related to engine revs though that suggests its the pump

I checked that out and every thing seems fine, also did 200 miles in it last night so I don't think it's the pump, it's running great, but these lights are wrecking my head! HELP!

you can pick up a odb reader for 20-25 quid of ebay, might be your best bet. Forgot what type it is that you need... Think its on ktechs website but there much cheaper on the bay

obd reader arrived yesterday, rushed home to try it, only to have it tell me that i have no faults stored. i suppose i should be pleased about that but i still have the stop and oil can lights on. can anyone help me?

get a oil pressure guage. then test the pressure, if thats fine then its the switch.

Checked oil pressure and its fine, anyone know the part number and approximate price of a oil pressure switch?

Some of the more expensive fault code readers..pick up more things and can reset lights.


have you done that little trick with the button on the end of the stalk..dont know if that will do anything..

thanks pinky, the dash board trick yielded no faults, really think at this stage it has to be the oil pressure switch, anyone know how much they cost and perhaps a part number?
