ok so i thought i would let you all know that some one tried to steal my car last night,
I live in southmanchester so not the scummy part,
at about 3 in the morning a 206/207 drove past a couple of times with no lights at all on, n then slowly drove down my drive and parked next to my car, both lads got out and started looking at it, n shining a torch inside....

now my car is parked at the back of my house not on the road and has no sound system in just the standard tape deck, there are many cars parked on the road including next doors punto which has 1000s of audio equipment and would be easy to steal so i guess they wernt looking for a quick buck. basicly you cant see my car from the road unless you were looking for it.

My dad was pretty worried by this point so let the dogs out into the yard, the 2 men got quickly back in the car and sped off.
By this point my dad had woken me up and i had the curtains open and my window,

The security light kept getting triped off and it only gets set off by something big like a car or person.

Lucky escape mate! good thing your dad was up.. ive had this with my old williams very early morning and they parked in my flats car park off the road.. luckily almost all of our flats have security lights so they fecked off.. waited up the next night tho' with a friend in case they tried it again. They did a few weeks later and f**ked up the drivers door and seals..

some right c***s about, living nearish to Manchester and Stockport they all seem to come on the rob in surrounding areas, it's one of the worst places in the country for car crime... I too have awoken to the obligatory brick on the seat or in the footwell to then be greated with a lack of audio equipment... happened 3 times on my XR2, 1st two times the stereo etc went, 3rd time I had half the engine in the front and back seats as I was removing the 45mil carbs and putting it back to standard... those were strangely enough left untouched even though they were probably worth more than both stereo's combined... stroke of luck I suppose...

One other thing I forgot to say - always drive round the block if your on your way home & you notice that the car behind you seems to be following you. I've had to do it loads of times. NEVER lead them to yuor font door !

Missus had her Civic window smashed whilst in a hotel for work in Manchester this week. Didsbury or somewhere (dunno if that's the cr*p area - not that I think much of any of manchester). Didn't take anything but a lot of hassle to get it fixed.

I was in a mates house for 10 mins, YES.. 10 mins. I come back out to my car to find the window smashed, stereo gone, all the CDs gone from the glovebox and my mp3 player (£250 worth)..... f**king w*****s even left the damn screwdriver they used to smash the window... Police couldn't find any prints tho :\ useless t***s

Under the back seat you can disconnect the fuel pump or something from what I've heard on here.

They'll never think about looking there when I won't start.

I always block my car in with my mams.

Hope it goes well for you, try not to worry and if you see anyone breaking in, personally it's not worth going out to chase them. Stay inside and phone the police immediately. I wouldn't even let them know you've phoned the police, hopefully they'll be caught in the act.

Agreed a Disklok steering wheel lock is well worth the money.

The amount of noise and time it takes to get one off is worth it.

I have one. Thatcham approved.

Always put it on though, never leave it on back seat. Thieves will actually pinch it and in their own time and comfort, drill out the lock and use a padlock to secure it in their own car. Then any other passing car theif, glances and sees their car fitted with an apparent secure disklok and drives on.

sorry to say but that is pathetic! If I saw somebody breaking into my car I'd be straight out with a bat, don't care how many there were at leat two would be going to hospital with a fractured skull
