warranty help

  BMW F31
bear with me guys i know its long :p

Ok basically just bought a car from a dealer with a very basic warranty, basic meaning its only covering the gearbox and engine.

i have had a local mechanic look at it as it doesnt go into mainly 2nd gear properly, he thinks it may be the clutch going and also there is a seal on the bottom of the gear box where the gear selector leaver goes in that has failed and is somehow allowing oil to leak out (not alot but its still leaking).
when i spoke to the garage they said the warranty doesnt cover seals, oh great!

so as i may need a clutch or gearbox work etc i thought i'd look into 3rd party warranties, e.g a warranty that you can just buy for your car.

does anyone have any views on these, will i be able to take out the warranty and use it to file a claim straight away for the problems already discussed?

i cant see any catch with these warranties, have found one with a £1000 limit per claim for a year @ £155, almost seems too good to be true?! is it?

any advice guys?

:S

I wouldn'y bother with any of the aftermarket stuff. There always to many get out clauses. Or rules like you pay and we think about refunding you depend what our enginers thing is to blame.

Most garage warentlies arn't worth the paper there written on you do have rights though do a google search they have to provide a 12 month realistic garantee so if you paid £10k the warently would be decient howver a £200 car warently not going to be decinet.

As iI said before I woulnd't buy any aftermarket waranties warnties dirct the biggest place I know and and I've heard stories of them being difficult so places which are smaller will be even worse.

The only worthwhile warenties are the manurfactures own usually as they put there name on them so don't want bad pres sbut they have to be bought befere the car runs out of normal waranty usually and only go till 5 years.
