Hey,

Im looking at buying a 182 preferably in one of the blue colours, struggling to find one in budget with good history and belts done. Thinking of buying one with some history but not sure if thats a good idea or not? Do any of you know of any good garages to do work on it when i get it near/around warrington area? Thinking of buying one without it done if i can get it cheap and then get it do e myself, bad or good idea?

Thanks for the help in advance

working on 182s can be annoying at times.
Plenty of guides and people on here willing to help.
Best getting one with most of the big jobs done Imo.
As the cost can spiral quick.

@william84 Was just thinking for the belts doing etc, if they are any garages near by, little bits i will try to do myself.
I found a nice one not too far away on ebay but it has no history at all apart from the last 3 month where it had the belts done and a service, so got told to walk away from it.

Depends.
The engines are relatively quite solid and take plenty of abuse.
Check for any unusual tapping or knocking from engine.
When driving ensure it pulls strong and no rough running etc.
If proof of belt change with dephaser and aux tensioner is provided and all above is met history wouldn't really matter to me.
History doesn't mean Alot to be fair as I have read some horror stories on here of bellow 80k and dropping a valve etc so really history just means more money Imo.
I've also read on the flip side Daily's getting well used on and off track at 200k.
So back to the point go with a clear head going round all the known areas of issues I.e rust areas like Jack points etc
Check all known mechanical issues.
An as I say if in doubt walk away can get costly quick.

Cheers @william84 not many i have seen in budget have history or full history. Just haggling with the price at the minute before i go look at it. But hes done:
Aux belt / cambelt / depshaser / aux tensioner changed last month also oil and filter (invoice to prove also parts receipts from RPD)
That basically is all the history it has. Not sure if to go or just wait for another.

@william84 its this one i posted in another thread, the person has messaged me a bunch of times but not sure if they are been too eager.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Clio-182-low-mileage-195bhp/264413083335

it has no prior history to what's in the add. i also asked why he's selling after 3 months of owning it and he said he's going self employed and starting up a company with some one so needs the cash. they also said they would take £2000 for it but nothing less or they will just keep it and garage it. id need to buy another seat for it, also the seatbelt straps, where will he have bolted them to?

Doesn't seem to do many miles a year.
Sounds dodgy but then again mines is the same was only doing avg 2k a year till it became a daily again.
So not to sure tbh.
I'd be guessing if it was as good as he said he would want more for it.
with miles etc I'd be guessing about 3-4k imo

195bhp. I doubt it (yes I read the graph)

The MOT history is pretty sketchy on it too.
@cat171 didn't even think to look at the MOT history. just seems a good buy and its the only thing i can find within my budget at the minute and it has low miles.

@william84 he said if he had history he would be listing it for 5k.

would you both walk away from it? another member on here said walk away to me. struggling to find a track ready one for 2k. theirs some one on here with a 172 cup for sale with 115k with major work (belts etc) needing to be done in about a years time but its still out of my budget.

I'd walk mate.
If I was confident in my car I was selling I wouldnt drop 3k for no history.
Screams dodgy Imo

Condition and history over mileage really. There's a lot on here that have gone round the clock and still look nice.
It all comes down to how the car has been looked after.

Completely agree!
Nice standard well maintained car on 120k rather than a badly modded 60k car with suspect history all day long!
