wat heh fuel additive!

just put some 7ron octane booster (nos) in my 182 an boy u can tell the diference, the engine is like a caged animal tryin burst out of the bonnet. The revs dont seem to die as much wen i change gear so i can keep it in the sweet spot more easily. Bit of torque steer an spins in 2nd but still a grin factor. ? is has anyone else experienced this an will it harm my engine?

It will also kill your CAT so not worth the aggro, plus there is little if any gains to be had unless the car is mapped for that grade fuel.

Octane booster does sweet fa. Useful in forced induction engines pointless in N/A engines.

Any gain you "feel" is in your head.

would a turbo car thats been decatted run better/ faster on it??

It gives more safety margin, as a higher RON rating gives more resistance to pre detenation. By increasing the advance or running more boost gives the power. On a manufacturer based ECU map it will give no noticable gain.

Thankyou, someoen who know what they were talking about and not quoting others.

So if you had a remapped ecu wiht a map designed to run higer ron ratings it woudl make a difference?

There is no ECU I know of that allows you to tell it "by the way mr ecu were running 100 ron unleaded today" BUT they will allow you to adjust the timing of the engine. The higher the ron the more resistant to pre-detonation.

There is some learning of ECUs in the way they always advance to the point of det then back off slightly for safety, AFAIK most modern ECUs work this way to acheive max efficiency. But they do this between limits 95-98 RON its safe to say you would never use any other, whats the point of mapping it to suit the 0.001 % who would want to play with there fuel.

If you want to play use tolulene that increases the RON significantly but be warned its very coarse and wont do much for the longevity of your engine/injectors or fuel lines.
