Water waste of a day (pump and dephaser)

Well after the group N timing all set up and ready to race went to load the Clio on the trailer ready for snett last week and the water pump started gushing, and dephaser rattled on start up.

6 hours of absolute BS.

Damn Renault for using a gasket that basically turns to a cement like substance after 20 years !!

Not wishing to be “that guy”, as it’s gutting, but most on here do the pump and dephaser at the same time as new belts and timing.

For exactly the reason you’ve just discovered 😭

I forgot to change the water pump doing the belts once... Finished the job and the water pump was sat there looking lonely.

The next 4-5 years I lived in fear.

Haha the surprise was it wasn't leaking last track day and then as I went to drive it on the trailer it was leaking , the car has had a hard life, I forgive it for every part that brakes , it's earned the replacements

At least with the 1*2 you can do the water pump without having to do the cambelt.
