WEBSITE HELP PLEASE!!!

hi all, i work for a Conservatory Company, drawing them up on AutoCad.

we are having some trouble with our website, in that:

A: we have reports of the URL not even working from some people that have telephoned!

B: we are hard if not impossible to find through google.


im on really worried about the 1st point here, and wondered if some people could try and get onto it? www.glasshouses.com

i can get onto it from work, yet "pinged the URL" and got this....

Its the URL @ the top (www.glasshouses.com)

says it timed out or something?

Please can i get some advice, or people trying it, and seeing if they themselves can get on.

its working for me.

www.glasshouses.com is fine, pings could be turned off.

www.glass-houses.co.uk works fine.

Different servers.

Ideally, you should not replicate a website, as you can get pinalised by google. Re-directs should be implemented.

You need to redo your menu on the left, it's scaring me !

kk thanks, the 2nd URL is .co.uk at the end, not .com

we only advertise the .com URL, and its really unnecessarily complicated!

thats something i dont understand, how it can work someplaces, and not in others? i have tried it on 4 diff browsers at work

microsoft server 2000
microsoft server 2003
linux
Xp
Vista

and it works here. but at home i tried 2 diff browsers, and xp and vista

and i get nothing on www.glasshouses.com

thats the problem child!

now it seems not to matter what system you have, but your location!?

On a Mac here, using Safari (and Firefox) and the isp is BT.

implement re-directs to fix these problems,

ideally, you want all the traffic to point to one location, which ever you want the default to be.

For example

glass-houses.co.uk point to glasshouses.com

etc

(long story short, we took over glasshouses about a year ago. we were jeremy uglow conservatories. so we got our old website redirrected. does this work for you peeps?)

it should go to the www.glasshouses.com.

now i dont think this works AT ALL becuase it doesnt work at home!

Your web at the mo just doesn't seem search engine optimised - You need to use and emphasise as many of your keywords as possible in your body text - also google won't read text in pictures so i would lose the gif image of glass houses and jeremy uglow and replace with a nice big header.

Yeah may just be me but i would def look at a web redesign as it doesn't seem to reflect the companies quality at the mo

gif images amongst other issues like using the correct attributes in tags, heading tags, alt and title, clean code, css and not table layout, and basically a fresh appearance to make the company look like their work is of a high standard and very classy! from the pics on their, the work looks top notch!
