Has anyone got some good recommendations for a company to build me a website for the business i work in now?

I don't need anything fancy, just a few pages with some pictures on of our product, our contact details, how to find us and our services.

anyone got any ideas?

It is something i do as Chris has pointed out. If you want basic stuff then i would say i am the wrong man for the job to be honest.

It would be interesting to know more about your business though, what are you trying to achieve with the website? Does it need to be updated regularly, are you hoping to get sales from it?

I think it's important to think more about investment than simply a cost. It is relatively easy to recoup the cost, so doing the job right first time is worthwile.

I know Jon is a designer, there is also Si if he's still around and Steve, but not sure if he is just graphic design?

Cheers

I think a lot of people don't realise what websites can do. They are now more like applications, or have the potential to be. It's all about fitting with your requirements, but i know of websites that have cost millions... £5k for a CMS website is not bad at all.

Seb, I can do it for you if you like. Supply a site layout plan, pics and the content and ill do it in a few days for you. You're welcome to pm me. Cost will be dependant on the amount of content, but it certainly won't be anywhere near 4 figures. lol.

It is kitchen retailer with in-house design and survey.

The website is not for any sales at all. It is purely for a 'presence' on the web so people can go on and see what types of kitchens we do and show variosu picutres etc. The website would outline the services we provide. I do not forsee i would have to update it on any regular basis... maybe once or twice a year to change pictures due to change in availability. I wouldn't want a massive gallery. Something like 20 pictures fading in and out for example?

I think it is a case many customers ask if we have a website and at this moment we don't. For our paper adverts it would then allow us to put the website address on it so local people (99%) of our buisness can then go online and see what we offer - and then hopefully it will entice them to come in and see the products for real.

I would also like it so on google for example if someone put in our company name we would be up the list etc, but i have no idea about that.

does that help at all for what i am aiming at?

They sound like humble ambitions from what you say, and there would be no point spending a lot of money on it. Coming up for your company name is very easy, just requires good construction of the website, no additional work is needed.

It's when you start thinking you want to come up high for something like 'handmade kitchens' etc. where the effort (and money) goes up.

1 & 1 Internet.

Register domain name.

Get a beginners package, 29 quid per year or something similar.

Build the site.

I have done 2, and i am a complete r****d. Both sites look ok for basic websites.

If you want a look drop me a PM as i dont want all the Cliosport web police picking them to bits. ;-)

Its as easy as doing a powerpoint presentation or writing a few pages with piccies in Word. Same idea.

Both very nice websites, specially moveme. I wonder if it was created from scratch or if it was an off the shelf package heavily customised.
