Daft one maybe, what’s the purpose of this aluminium block?
Its a cover for the injectors essentially.

In the event of a front end crash, it stops the injectors dismounting the block and squirting fuel all over a hot engine.

Lots of people remove them, I did when i had my 182, but with hindsight I should have kept it!

People remove them to save weight and for easier access to the oil filter. But they are there for a good reason.
