Ive got a 2001 172, am I a Mk1 or a Mk2? Probably should know

This should be a mark 1, has it go a colour RENAULT SPORT logo on the seats ? if so its a Mk 1.

Yes, its got the logo on the seats. I did have a picture here but I cant find it now, if I find it Ill post it.

well actually to put it politcally correctly, you are a mk2 phase 1 (Rowntree Jelly mold) and the other one above is a mk2 phase 2.

I think thats why I was confused, isnt a Mk1 Clio up until 98?

Then again, its not so difficult to confuse me

Mk2 (or Mk2 phase 1) 98>2001

Mk3 or (Mk2 phase 2) 2001 > ****

Mk1 is 1991 to 1998, inclusive of Phase1, 2 and 3. (the Phase3 was the most radical change).

Mk2 is 1998 to present, inclusive of Phase1 and 2. (the Phase2 is the same car with a fairly radical facelift).

But because the two 172s look so different, theyre commonly referred to as Mk1 and 2 (even though theyre Phases).
