what are these

Hey all ... just a quick Q ... what are the police transit vans that sit on the side of the road with cameras sticking out of flaps at the tops of the rear doors. Are these for tax or speed? or something else... only reason I ask is that I saw 2 of these today but they were both parked on bends which are pretty sharp... 40mph max

they are the spectrum vans used by ANPR teams, they check tax, mot, insurance r/o then police PNC and FIS computers

So your telling me, that those cameras take a picture of your tax disk?

I saw one of those vans, and it was doing speed checks.. cus they had temp signs saying "Police Speed Check Area" after the dual carriageway just as you entered a 40 zone....

Daz.

As far as I know they just check th DVLA database to see if your tax is current.

They are also clamping down on people without logbooks for the car, new law 1st Feb. DONOT BUY A CAR WITOUT A V5 FROM NOW ON OR YOU WILL NOT LEGALLY OWN IT OR BE ABLE TO GET TAX.
