what backbox

Itll cost you more than £100!!!! Ive got a Powerflow BB £140 + lifetime warranty, sounds brilliant

I would go for the magnex 6x4 oval pipe (stainless) dont like powerflow, they use the lowest possible grade of stainless ~(it still rusts a bit) and NEVER pay out on the warranty, they use excuses like "its stone chip damage" "your car is too low and its grounded the exhaust" and anything they can to get away with screwing you over.

I knwo there is a guy in Birmingham that does very good stainless zorts but it will be well over your budget by the time u drive there. Save up for a full system or go back to the lexus light idea?;)

i believe that sportex do a back box for £90, its made from mild steel, and you dont get much of a guarantee either, but you get what you pay for

My powerflow backbox cost £160.. I wanted a powerflow cus of the great noise, and the fact you could chose what it looks like (I had Single Backbox, Twin Square Exit)... No one does a backbox for my Clio like this.. as an "off-the-shelf" item. Closest is Peco Powermaster... but thats only a single exit.

Ben P, im in Solihull too!!! How come weve never met up????? There is a powerflow place in Alum Rock in Birmingham.

SoLow, theres nothing wrong with powerflow, my exhaust mounts snapped and they replaced the whole backbox free of charge. They use 304 stainless steel (same grade as Magnex) They 6x4 oval wont fit on anything other than a 172 cos of the larger bore pipe

Fred, Roamer we must do it sometime soon!

I think Midlands Performance Centre in Walsall is the main place for Ashley exhausts. I heard Spencer there was the son of the guy who owns Ashley?

I know the guy goes under the name of Exhausts uk, will try to get the number if i can for you.

Powerflow exhausts are poor compared to the magnex boxes, the only thing that is truly stainless steel about them is the tip of the exhaust. My old Magnex box still looked brand new when I sold it on 3 years after buying it (ie NO RUST AT ALL) and yet when I had a powerflow system put on my last car it looked very poor within about 4 months of winter driving.

All i am saying is check what grade of stainless you are getting, suppose it really dpends on what you are after and if you ahve a reliable Powerflow dealer near you.

the following is a review of the exhaust a mate had done on his Rover cabby, the company name is Ascar, sorry bout that:

Ascar - KS
£300 Exhaust system from downpipe.
Made from 304 grade stainless steel, (Powerflow use 409) Ascar gave a great price and promised a great service. I arrived at 1pm, and was asked what sound I wanted from the car, I described as best I could what I wanted, chose my tail pipe design and then passed the next 4 hours away. The sound was exactly what I wanted, but the exhaust was slightly to the left.

I mentioned this, and it was sorted, but after the drive back to the nort-east, the exhaust was hanging to the left again, and as a result knocking off the bumper whenever I went around a roundabout, I put my car up on the ramp and the exhaust, wasnt the best looking underneath the car, and the wrong rubbers had been used, allowing the exhaust too much movement.

I replaced the rubbers with various different ones, these held the exhaust tighter, and as a result it sat more central in the bumper cut-out.

Not every exhaust they produce is going to be perfect, and the power and sound are exactly what I wanted so I would still recommend them.
