What camcorder???

looking at buying a cheapish camcorder soon,

choosing between the cannon
-MV880x (£293)
-MV930 (£229)
-MV890 (£193)

The 880x is 1.33mp, other two are 800k.

zooms are 14,25,22 respectivly.

The bottom two are true wide screen mode.

The 880x has a good night mode.


Which would you choose and why?

MV880, cos its the best and kick the s**t out of the other 2, depends what u can afford.

I have a canon mv750i , can't fault it and would have another canon again .

The only thing that lets down the 880 is the optical zoom . Its quite poor by todays standards .Mine has a 22x optical zoom.

What prices and places have you been looking at ?

I think the battery life is a bit optimistic also . Camcorders eat battery power if your using alot of zoom .

Get compatible batteries off ebay for about 20% of the price of canons own , got mine off a seller in the USA , arrived within a week

anything upto 300ish, mainly net www.ebuyer.co.uk anthough local costco has the 880x for the same as ebuyer (before postage). had a look at pixmania but there more than ebuyer.

would probably get a spare battery of the bay aswel.

will there be much of a jump in quality going from tho 800k res ones to the 1.33m cameras?

When its pitch black it has supernight mode , comes out abit like something from Blair witch , not brilliant to be honest , in semi darkness the pics ok . The zooms brilliant on it though . Good for snooping ,lol

got both of them in my shortlist lol if didnt get the 880x would probably get the 930

its a few years old now, it was at the end of the line so i picked it up from an argos clearance for £180, i have since then bought a long life battery and am very glad i did!
i heard these were £600 when new, dunno how true that is, cant find a price for any
