What Coolant

Car  Megane 225
Need to change the coolant in my 172 and was wondering what to use. Was thinking Silkolene pro cool! Anyone used it? Any gud?

Thanks!

Depends if you wanna go FF on your coolent. 50% Glycol, 50% water is the most efficeient, but would cost you a small fortune. That's what they do in some of the race cars.

And if you're wondering where you can get Glycol from, try your local health food store!

Or try G.S.F., 5 litres of ready mixed Type D coolant (exactly the same stuff your Renault dealer will sell for £30) for £15*.

* It will be about £15 with discount, just stand there and stare at them till you get the price down.

Why not use the stuff that is recommended for your car, as I have stated, G.S.F. do it for about £15. You won't have to ask the question as to whether or not it is suitable.

It's all the same. The percentage of glycol determines lowest temperature before freezing. Water on its own is the most efficient, adding glycol lowers the heat capacity of the water.
