What does CAT D mean??

its means it has been wrote off and repaired.

there are different level catagories of the damage done CAT C, D etc

CAT D mean its Beyond Economical repair, Meaning it would cost more than 60% of the vehicles value to repair.
But some people do repair them and make them roadworthy
Usually with second hand parts

As long as they are repaired to a good standard it can be ok, only thing is if u write it off again u get a lower insurance pay out

some kind of mountain Cat .

well said. If your not bothered about it being a cat D go for it, but it would be a good idea to get a mechanic friend ( if you have one ) to check it out.

Yeah, exactly doesnt mean it CANT be repaired jst means it would cost too much to do so, if you have the right contacts it can be a real bargain!

It means there will be a cat living in the boot, with massive, i say massive tits.

Nothing wrong with cat d cars, if you can fix it yourself its a right bargain

only uneconomical to repair based upon dealership rrp prices and the insurance approved "generous" quote for the work

a cat D car can still have full manufactures warranty etc

a car park ding on some cars could cause a cat D write off, or even a car thats had all its windows smashed etc

Ive heard a car thats been declared Cat D becasue the owner lost the keys. It doesnt always mean the cars dodgey, can be down to the insurance company getting a bit anal.
