What engine oil to use on a....

Hi all. what engine oil would you suggest to be used on a daily 1.4 8 valve? Car is on about 97k.
I used to use Castrol GTX 10W-40 Part, Ive recently done an oil change about couple weeks ago and decided to try Castrol magnatec 10W-40 Part which i noticed is A LOT thinner!. I'm Not 100%, but i'm sure the engine ran quieter with the GTX. So should i go back to the GTX or not? I know the Renault handbook suggests 5W-40, but shorly not on a high mileage engine/car?

If you've recently changed it and it's running fine why do you want to change it again?

Well the engine seems to run noisier with more tappets. Just wondering if the GTX would be better for it or if there's any other oils people could suggest to use. I want the car to last! lol. :smiley:
