What has broken in the last 6 months?

Hi guys,

Had my Clio just under a year now and had my first issue.

Starter motor is screwed and has screwed my battery.

All I've read on here today is how things keep going wrong with members cars so just wondered what people have had to replace recently??

Well i've had mine a month and so far replaced the front lambda sensor. Fingers crossed that is all i get :)
 
  DCi 100
2x driveshafts
1x crank sensor
1x coil pack
4x spark plugs (they were green <_<)
1x wheel bearing
1x gaitor clip
1x steering wheel airbag loom
1x passenger window switch

To make a start...

f**king hell Alex, that's tough! I'd be pissed!

I've always said to mates.. "yes it's French but nothing has gone wrongwith it yet!"

I'm just hoping the starter motor isn't the "start" of a money pit of things breaking!

Owned 5 months.

Upstream lamdba - £60
Rear exhaust mount - £20

So that's the two 182 cliche problems out the way then!

In 12 months of my ownership its had the following bits fail.

All the mounts replaced - Ktec uprated engine and gearbox and powerflex dogbone bush.
Clutch
Exhaust snapped
Exhaust mounts
Window regulator

Although in fairness, the car is near on 10 years old now...

My van (P reg Clio Diesel) has had a trouble free 3 months so far.

Its only been on the road 3 months so thats as far as I can go! lol.

I've had mine 11 weeks.

2 x Lambdas
Coolant Temp Sender
Thermostat
Caliper Pin/brake clean up.

Also it needs an exhaust (possibly mounts, although previous owner said they'll only break anyway...), and the battery is under suspicion.

I'm mildly disappointed.

Hmm....

New Cat Back Exhaust (OEM one fell off so good excuse for an upgrade lol)
Exhaust Mounts
All Engine/Gearbox mounts (OEM were on last legs so uprated them all!)
Brand New Rear Discs
FULL cambelt and aux belt change including full service...

So managed to spend just shy of £1000 in 6 weeks of ownership! :S lol

What up with the exhaust?

Also, what was the caliper pin etc for.

Exhaust is rusting on both backboxes, and the baffles are gone in the middle section. It's just gone through the MOT as an advisory but it needs doing soon ish.

Caliper pin was seized and the car failed the MOT on brake imbalance until it was sorted.

I just had a brake overhaul :/ £350 it cost me (including labour)

2 new wheel cylinders (I had a leak and one was corroding away :p)
New pads and discs at the front
Brake fluid and cleaner

Faulty injector
Dodgy headlight
Blower won't go on anything but 4 (resistor)
Light for the blower knob has gone out aswell.
Misfire a few weeks back due to loads of water between the spark plugs and HT leads.
ABS rings incompatible so no abs (fun in the snow) :S
Top mounts knocking so need replacing.

Ah well only the heater, headlight, top mounts and discs to sort now.

cat back (replaced with aftermarket for funs)
headlight bulb
sunroof seal (didn't solve the problem)

Six months? Try the last three.

Water pump.
Driveshaft
CV boot
ECU bracket
Dephaser
Gearbox mount
Fuel rail guard fell off, shorting out everything on the motorway (LOL)

Thankfully, it's at BTM now, being attended to, and will return to me back at 100%!

a brake calipa.

Up that to 6 years and the following is added.

Front light washer

Oh had to put a washer on the rear heat shield to.

Yeah I've got this to look forward to. My rear boxes are really rusty and the baffle in the left one has gone. Told it won't pass next MOT. £400 (or £498?) for the part. Ugh

had it nearly a year but so far..

drivers window switch stopped working, at datford crossing, window got stuck down and had to continue the drive on the m25, cold wasn't the word.
sump cracked - glue sorted that out
battery keeps dying

Had the car just under 6 months.

Slight misfire. (Solved by a service. Hadn't had one in around 30k)
New brakes all round.
Knocking exhaust (Partly solved by powerflex lower gearbox mount bushes and moving the upper engine mount slightly forward. Now just have to replace the upper gearbox mount as it's fucked)
Standard exhaust had a slight hole in it. (Solved by a K-tec stealth system and Decat ;) )
Whistling coming from engine bay (Solved by cambelt and aux belt change. Turns out one of the bolts used to hold the alternator on, was missing).
One of my keys has stopped working and can't turn the engine on with it. Other key's button doesn't work so can't unlock the car unless I use the keyhole.

Only things left to do is sort the key issue out and replace the upper gearbox mount.

Dephaser 10miles after the belts were changed. :mad:

Over a grand spent on it easily. :( It's annoying as up to the point it wasn't moving for a few months it never really put a foot wrong.

Similar list to me mate... only difference is i didnt have to to speedo or lambda sensor but had to replace whol exhaust instead lol expensive few months!

(1) window screen washer motor.

(2) hazid light switch.

(3) rear exhaust rubber mount.

(4) rear caliper.

(5) upper gearbox mount.

(6) rear pads.

Most of those are consumables, shouldn't be on the list,

Otherwise my tyres also break every 10k ish.

I wasn't going to put them on, but someone earlier said their pads had worn down to the backplate. I figured we were going for everything.
