You can get a conector from the stalk to alpine headunits aslong as its a 54 plate or older. On 05 or 55 plates the headunit is digital or something and you cant get a connector for the stalk.
I really like the look of those ones with the USB port on the front. CAD are doing the JVC KD-G821 with a 1Gb USB stick (Get 15+ albums on there) for £169.99.
i bought an alpine head unit not so long ago looks cool and is the best head unit Ive had upto yet and believe me Ive had a few but i ain't got the stalk working after a while you get used to not having it lol
9855R has few extra functions to tailor the sound a bit better hence why its still being sold.
9857 is newer without the glide touch has better internal amp same preouts but not as much customization over the sound as the 9855R does.
Depends which one you want really not everyone would make use of the extra features of the 9855R it took me 3 weeks to get my head around everything and get it all setup how i liked it with my 9855R. Lots and lots of experimenting.
bought one today, went for a 9812rb as i have had one before and they are s**t hot for £200 imo. only gonna be running components up front and i will have them amped anyway!
