What is this part?

Was changing the side light bulb today and noticed that something was loose but i can't find where its meant to be plugged into?

Also the light cluster seems to be pretty loose. I can imagine that when driving around it will be moving a fair bit. Is there a way of tightening this back up. You can see in the picture that its sat on the floor of the housing rather than sitting in place.

Your cluster has come off the ball type connector, it pops on and allows the light unit to be leveled up and down, take the light out and look inside, in the middle you should see what im talking about, see if you can pop it back into place and it will sit right again. I have some pictures in my project thread but not sure where.

Unsure what that connector is though.

thanks for the update. i thought that might be the case. will take a look at the weekend.
As for the connector any more help would be great

The connector is the bonnet closure switch/sensor.

See the identical coloured bit of plastic literally 5cm from the connector in the first pic? It's supposed to be part of that, but it clearly broken. Connector looks fine, but the switch seems to have disappeared leaving you with just the plastic housing stuck in the upper grill.
