what makes a pc slow to load ?

Car  transit van, ph2 172
had a pc built up and its very very slow to load each page for example it took at least 1.30mins to load this screen after i pressed "post new thread" botton, and to watch a 1min video on you tube etc would take 6 7 mins to load
this is what it says on my recipt for the pc,
atx midi case with 400watt power supply
am2 foxconn motherboard
am2 le processor
1gb ddrii memory
250gb hard drive

iam using tiscali broadband up to 8meg
so what parts do i need to change to speed it up ?

Its sound like its mainly down to your internet connection. How is the Pc for gerenal usage?

edit... I was too slow ;).

Last Result:
Download Speed: 159 kbps (19.9 KB/sec ) Upload Speed: 700 kbps (87.5 KB/sec )

????? this means ? lol

That's your reason for the slow speed. You're getting f**k all. 1MB = 1024kbps you're getting 159kbps....

Download Speed: 6014 kbps (751.8 KB/sec ) Upload Speed: 377 kbps (47.1 KB/sec )

That's mine, my ISP is UKFSN for reference.

What the hell...your upload speed is superb and yet your download speed is shocking. Get onto technical support as that is way below even the conservative BT SLA, log a fault.

Be well worth leaving your router off tonight when you're done, unplug it from the wall. Takes about 6 hours before your session on their network will end, so when you reconnect you get a new session with hopefully a better line.

Also worth unplugging anything else that's plugged into your telephone sockets in the house, and if posible swapping the filter for another. There's also the BT Whoosh test which will take Tiscali out of the equation and tell you how good/bad your line is with BT.

Phone them and they'll advise you.

hmmm upload is a little slow ;)

Mines running at about 4meg which is spot on. Feels slow sometimes though, virgin keeps burping.

Adam how the hell are you getting 22meg broadband?!

I am with Be Unlimited and I have it configured so I am getting the best out of the line (Fastpath and a lower S/N margin). Also I have the router direct into the master socket with no extensions and a ADSL face plate. :)
