What on earth are coilovers

Hi, I know there something to do with your suspension (even though I keep wanting to think of tesla coils off C&C...or kettles for some reason) anyway what are they? What do they do thats so amazing? Why are they better than whatever (if anything) is on the standard setup? How much are they? And if they are a good thing, can I get them for my Clio MK1 RT?

They incorporate shocks as well as springs. You can adjust them. Good ones are expensive, and are well worth the money. Impratical for 100% road use.

They are a smaller boddied unit than standard shocks, basically the spring is coiled over the damper, hence the name. So the inside of big wheels wont hit the spring seats on full lock like on convential struts. Plus you can lower more without comprimising handling, and they are typically height and rebound adjustable. Id gor for Avo coilovers on your RT, if available.
