What Processors/GPU's You had in the past ?

Really sad thread but might bring back some memories lol. (These are all from when i started building my own PC's)

CPU's:

AMD K6-2 400mhz (overclock'd to 450mhz, could just about manage to play MOHAA)

AMD Athlon XP 2000+ 1.7GHz (never bothered overclocking this)

AMD Athlon XP 2800+ 2.25GHz (Didnt have it for long before i moved on, chip had been tampered with im guessing it would have been fun to overclock)

AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 2.2GHz (Now sitting at 2.6GHz)

Intel Core2 Quad 6600 2.4GHz (Bought it yesterday ive yet to install it. Hoping over time ill get it to 3GHz)


GPU's:

Nvidia Geforce 2MX 64mb (Had it when i had my K6, ive still got it now, ran CS Source very well on my 3500+ i wouldnt put it past Cod 4 tbh)

XFX Nvidia Geforce 4 TI 4200 128mb (Lasted me a LONG time, dont know where it ended up)

ATI Radeon 9800 XT 256 MB (Boiling Hot, was the cause of endless system restarts however in the time it did manage to run properly and not artifact, it did make a huge difference to my games lol. First Card Id had thatd id overclocked)

XFX Nvidia Gefore 7900GTX 512mb (Good at the time, still in there now waiting for it's new card to replace it soon)

Leadtek 8800GT Extreme (Soon as i have it)

The Mystique was the first graphics card I upgraded to. The first one I recall was a Cirrus Logic board - fecking HOOOGE circuit board with a massive 1MB onboard.

I remember I bought the 2MB daughter-board for the Mystique as well, taking it to 4MB overall. I even managed to get 32-bit colour support with that then.

Are these new i7 cores worth the upgrade expense (obv inc motherboard too and probably ram)?

I'm running a well overclocked q6600 and wondering if I'll see much benefit. Running 800mhz ram @960mhz.

Actually just been doing a quick bit of reading on wikipedia (bit out of the loop with chips since buying the q6600 last year) and seems too much hassle for not massive gains. q6600 probably been the best chip Ive ever had bang for buck wise.

At the moment, no. You need new RAM as it runs in 3s.
