What speed shoudl I expect?

Hey ppl,
I'm finally going to take the plunge into the "up to 8meg" market. I'm currently on 2meg with BT and these are my line stats:

Downstream Margin: 30 db
Upstream Margin: 30 db
Downstream Line Attenuation: 29
Upstream Line Attenuation: 14

What type of speeds could I expect with those stats?

You can't tell in my experience.

My stats were mint on 2Mb, but then I can only get about 7.1Mb stable.

yes, only 7.1Mb.. my line stats before showed I could sync at 8Mb solid no probs.. but it just doesn't work like that.

are we talking about 7.1mb throughput, or 7.1mb sync speed?

if you have 8128k sync speed then maximum theoretical throughput speed is 7.3mb once you minus overheads, so 7.1mb is as near as perfect as you can get.
