what springs!!

i doubt the difference between 30mm and 40mm is that noticable

if you want a really low look and dont mind a harsh ride get 60mm

if you just want the car to look "normal" and improve the handling get 40mm

The thing is i know its because youre getting 17s but i think springs would have a detremental effect unless you invested in some proper coilovers. Having driven the Cup on track its actually very good suspension wise. The brakes stood up well but im yet to experience a standard car which can cope that well. If i was in your position id keep the 16s and spend some money on the engine and maybe get some different brake pads/discs.

If youre that keen remember you have a true performance car, not a little supermini like me! Phone up the major companies and ask them if they have springs and dampers to suit your car, and ask them about them, have they any articles/reviews? Ask why you should be buying them etc. Too many people buy new springs and because its a slightly tidier handling car presume its much much better, youre always going to give the thumbs up to something youve bought after all. Do some comparative research!

Ive got the AVOs fitted by HP and I tried playing with spacers to +/- 10mm. It was most definitely noticeable - more than ever when flat out, it just sat better on the road.

AVO Chassis Dynamics -40mm. Greatly reduced the roll on corners and much more stable at speed (currently using standard 16" with Contis). Only disadvange is that it "crashes" a bit more over holes that stretch accross the road. But that is expected. Think this is the max realistic drop for the 172. Youre looking at coilovers for a lower drop, but reckon these will be too stiff and twitchy for normal road use. Ideal though for track use with smooth surfaces. You have to decide if you want your car for performance handling or for cruising/looks. Difficult to achieve both unfortunately!
