What To Change?

Sorry if this has been asked/posted before but... I'm thinking about getting the cambelt done on my car next year. Its not due for another 2 years but id like to get it done for piece of mind for as long as ill own it (about 3 years) and id like to know what else may i swell change while I'm at it. So basically as many jobs as possible while its getting done. I know about a few things but with me only having the car 2 months, I've not had chance to find much out about what needs doing over time. its a Full Fat 182, 05 plate with 62000 miles on the clock. I'll list the things i know could get done and anyone else care to add on, that would be great :)

1.Cambelt
2.Dephaser Pulley
3.Auxillary Belt
4.Water Pump

Thanks,
Kieren

Water pumps rarely require changing, but not a stupid idea.

Its worth checking for even minor leaks on the rocker cover, as while the cambelt is off, its an easy job to re-seal that.

Along with the cambelt, anybody decent doing the job would change things such as the crank bolt, cam seals (inc dephaser seal) and dephaser & exhaust nut.

The most important thing, get somebody who knows what they are doing to do it, and by that, I mean a specialist, many on here, Any of them will tell you exactly what you are getting for your money and advise on other things.

Good advice, it's one of the main jobs next on my list and I've bought most of the addition parts suggested above to do at the same time, including the water pump. Rocket cover seal check is a good point, but I'm not sure what you mean by the "exhaust nut"

Dephaser bolt, and exhaust nut, (Cam has a stud for the exhaust pulley, Only needs renewing if it is damaged, or stretched, or if it comes out! IMO).

Who are you getting to do the job? Or are you doing it yourself?

Thanks, it'll be obvious when I study the blow out diagrams. Doing it myself, I fancy the challenge ;) , have all the right Renault gear and timing tools, and I'm not in a rush !

When I'd picked mine up it had been done 18K ago, but the dephaser hadn't been done. I decided for piece of mind I'd have the whole lot done, and figured they will last for the time I have the car.

Thanks for the advise ill add them to the list. Im unsure where to get it done with the places people are recommending are like 2-3 hours away from me. I have a local garage that I've used to do all sorts of jobs on my cars in the past also the cambelt on my 1.4 clio about 6 years ago. They say they can do the job without a problem I'm just unsure whether to take the risk or not. I totally trust them and they're well respected but I'm just abit wary why most people go to like 2 places to get these jobs done. Why is it so difficult for other places to do it?

Im in the same boat mate. where did you take yours?

Lots of garages mess it up by not getting the timing 100% spot on, which requires the genuine tools, which won't spend out. Plus you can't just tipex these.

I'm not sure whos your nearest specialist, but I would recommend taking it to one.

A specialist will also advise on exactly what you should be replacing, and check components for wear etc, without missing items or just fitting things for the hell of it.
