:-( what to do

  S'trollin on size 7s
basically to cut a long story short, i had a slight bump on friday and i'm now without a car.

obviously i doubt anyone would buy a car as a whole that is (what i consider) a write-off, so im thinking of trying to get atleast a few pennys back by breaking it down in parts.

ive been told by officials that its not roadworthy  and that i can't park it on the road in the condition its in. so since then ive parked it where it is now. but as you can see in the pictures its on a little gravel car park, at the end of my street, BUT its still next to/attached to the road itself ,so im wondering, would this now be classed as 'off road' or not, would it be illegal for me to break it down where it is, because really it is actually public parking there.!?

Ooft, you've done a good job of killing that.:(

Depends who owns that car park, if it's council owned then I would guess it's still classed as a public highway.
I would imagine by off the road they mean private property like a driveway.

I have a feeling that if you tried to break it there, a council truck would be along to get rid of it,
then charge you for it's disposal.

hmmm thats my concern im not sure its private at all, pretty sure its just a public car park so yea probably council.
bloody hell.lol wish i had a drive would be so much less hassle.

If the Car is taxed, then i dont see a reason why Council would tell you to move it, just put a cover over it if you can so nobody reports it,

If it's taxed then yeah maybe it'll be alright, but what happens when it's on axel stands with alot of it missing?
Even if the council don't move it you've still got neighbours that might get the arse with it.

yea i know thats when you know its going to show once major bits start going.lol

thing is if its taxed i dont see why i cant just keep it right outside my house on the road. its not like im trying to drive it , then yea that would be a different story. but it was a police officer that said it couldnt be on the road fullstop!

propper peein me off, because if i cant find somewhere i can keep it legally and strip it then selling it as it is ..well wont get anything for it. apart from the fact i dont know who would buy a write-off?
id rather get some money back myself. going by what they sell for on here, theres £200-250 in the seats alone for a start. nevermind the rest of the car.

GGGRRRRR!!

its below street level and there isnt a flat area that would fit a car AND i would also have to plow through a brick wal.., i dont fancy another claim against me tbh. lol

Is the damage that bad to break? 2nd hand bumper wing and light, could bodge the bonnet for now, main issue is that bent bit under the wing, unless there is more damage?

It looks cosmetic from here but its hard to tell, try and get her somewhere safe and strip back some of the body work. It may be a case of cosmetic damage, some new/2nd hand panels ect and some light persuasion with MC hammer.

That looks repairable, get down the breakers or look on ebay. Can get that up and running on no time

lol no hammer would straighten that its pure bent and beyonf straightening with a hammer. all the metalwork under the wing panel itself is crushed right back into the wheel arch and rubbing on the tyre ,the roof is creased and just above the sill under where the sideskirt should be is all bent aswel.

Keep it under a cover as said and sell the wheels as the last thing to go. So no one can see it is being striped but people will see you stripping it. It makes no sense but it does lol.

no i know what your saying because i was thinking exact thing , if interior dissapears then its no biggy to anyone else, but when its been sat on axel stands then people might start being funny.lol
ive got a guy buying my dash and interior for £300 and headlight pending at £65

really not looking forward to takin the dash out..jeeez!! dont have a clue where to start, apart fromt disconecting the battery.lol

I think on here there is a guide for removing the dash.

Removing the dash is pretty simple mate :) just a few torx screws dotted around the place and remove the steering wheel and it just pulls out.

As said, leave it there, strip it and leave the wheels on while its under a cover. If its taxed then I dont think the council could do anything about it.

I think you're reading too much into it tbh. Sure they've told you not to park it on the road as they're just doing their job and dottign the i's.

I think you'll be fine. Hell, I drove mine 6 miles home the morning after I crashed in this condition. I got stopped by the old bill and explained I was going straight home for the insurance to collect it... and they let me carry on lol.

Chuck a cover over it and explain to anyone who asks that it'll only be there for a short time.

stripped the car of all the knackered panels and parts today and had a closer look at the damage. its fully kinked the panel behind the wing and the metal where the air intake pipe sits has been squashed nd bent round so its now sat flush onthe radiator. the sill is squished just under the door and the roof has a small kink in it above the edge of the passenger door from the shockwave goin thru the car from impact. i doubt its repairable ,not economically neway.
