What to do

HI!

Ill prob get a biased reply being on the clio forum!

at the moment ive got 2 cars (but trust me im not rich) a valver and a saxo VTR, reason for this is my valver was ruined when the cam belt snapped a few months ago, id just had it re-sprayed and was well pi**ed off as you can imagine as it only had 54k on the clock! but anyway, got a new engine etc etc and then 6 days later the cambelt snapped on that one!

so i got fed up and got another loan and bought the saxo, but the clio is being fixed soon and i cant decide what to keep when its done, cant afford to keep both obviousley!

anyway thats me finished rambling on....................................

a good Valver will hold its value or even appreciate if its mint

a Saxo will lose and lose!

I would say keep the valver by miles, theres no comparison!!

But things come in 3s so will cambelt go again???

Why oh why didnt you get the cambelt changed before new engine was fitted??

Can cost £100s if engines in car to change cambelt but with engine out is only £20-30

Yeah i did get the cambelt changed with the new engine, the new engines got 88k but had a new clutch, the 54k flywheel and is now more minced than the other engine ive got sat here! for some reason the cambelt was getting pushed onto the cambelt cover and took 6 days to rub down to a ball of string! ive got it in the garage as well!

i do like my valver but its a bit unreliable, in the winter it stalled in traffic (when it had really snowd hard night before) and wouldnt start so i had to get out, push it on me own and jump back in half way down the road to bump it! people behind me prob wondered what the frigg i was doing!

but i do love ragging past all my mates cars and all the nova boys!

i think im gonna mix and match parts from the two engines with a few new valves and get it on the road again!

only prob with saxo is (beside from people thinking ive got the VTR attitude!) is its a cat-d write off repair, so its worth about 3800 even tho its 2 years old with 13k on it!

even my 1.4 16v can frigten a VTR, especially if u c**k up a gear change!

thats a bit worrying!

i dont think my sax is any quicker than my old quiksilver, same car really!

and i do love the noise my 16v makes when i floor it ( the wonders of a drill + my airbox!!!)

haha, yeh valvers do make a nice induction sound, u can really here it sucking.

no, i often draw close to vtrs, but have only beaten one handsdown once b4. i had taken my rearseats and spare wheel out and the other guy was on his own and totally standard and, yeh i won!

wot i also find funny is the ones with 18" alloys and huge bodykits +ICE... they never race u, coz they know that their lugging alot of weight around with u!

that sed, ive been in my m8s 1.4 8v saxo and its no slouch!

yeh, im slightly jealous of mint valver owners. even tho i have all the luxuries i cud (well apart from sat nav, leather, massaging seats, bose system lol...) want in my 2004 clio, i still envy the street cred that the valvers have, as newstyle black clios r on every driveway nowadays (thankfully tho, most are 1.2s- at least ive got a 1-4!)

i would wait till the valvers on the road again the take them both out for a long drive and pick the one that makesyou smile the most.

Well thats how i would choose

yeah i really wanna go for a drive in the clio, the 5 months ive owned it, 3 months its been off the road! rate things are going itll be another 3 months!

id admit tho driving an older car like the clio is much more fun, its more of a drivers car.

clio seems to handle better too...............

well looks like the clio has the edge for me atm!
