What tool, '97 Brake Calipers

Hi,

Trying to remove the brake calipers for my 1.4 1997 Clio Phase 3 but have got as far as getting the wheel off!

Have tried metric allen keys but no luck, is it an imperial fit or a renault tool of some sort?

Allen key FAIL, its got 5 freaking sides!

Dont need to touch the allen keyish bits, 18mm spanners what you need dude,

Fronts, the rears are drums?

should be, but wasn't 100%. Trying to figure out which part i'm looking at. Is there no 17mm bolts on there?

They are fronts, the shot it taken from inside the wheel arch looking outwards, you can see the top half of the caliper, bottom half is the same.

The bolt at the top came off easily (was 14mm) but doesn't seem to have changed anything, seems like its the big ''allen key'' style bits that need to come off? Can't see any 17mm bolts?

If it makes any difference these brakes could be the same as the 1.8's as its a Ltd edition 'sport'.. it has vented disks..

Wish I could find my haynes lol

The allen key type bolts are just the sliders, Theres just two bolts on the caliper which need undo-ing, think when I did it I undid the two 18mm caliper to hub bolts

You don't need to touch the pentagon shapped thing. The nuts near the rubber boot top and bottom should be the ones you need. If you are just changing the pads, loosens the top, and take out the second. Pivot it upwards.

Thanks but afraid its a discs and pads job! Same still apply or does the pentagon have to go?

how is the carrier attached to the hub? is just two 18mm nuts on the 182. Not sure on yours, but calipers don't look too different.

Big thanks guys, I'm an idiot and removing the two bolts was infact enough to get the caliper away! Just had to wiggle it!
