Im looking for a tripod for my d60 and its proving a little harder than i thought :S

There are tripods ranging from £25 - £500 and im a bit confused really? I dont want a massive one but still a decent sized/medium one and i am looking to spend around £35.

Have done a google but there is so much to choose from I thought I would see what you guys recommend? Lastly, do you use your tripod a lot? IE are they worth buying!?

Thank You.
Luke :)

I have shakey hand syndrome, so use mine quite a lot.

I can't remember the name of mine but it's a pretty decent one. About £40ish I think (Santa bought it for me) but I'll have a look at the name for you when I get home.

Cheers Dan... Yeh a lot of my images seem to suffer from the shake bake hand aswell which is why i was thinking of buying one. I also want to try out some HDR images and a tripod is a must for them apparently.

i have a COBRA one, nice make, and really solid, fits in a shoulder bag thingy!

thought about a monopod that you could just pop up when you needed it ?

Yeh mate thought about those but thought id just rather have the stability of the tripod really!

Are the ones from Jessops any good as ideally id want to go and fetch it from the shopping centre today... I dont mind ordering online though either!

I have a Jessops one. It was fine with my old 350D and kit lens but cannot support the 40D with the 24-105 on the front of it. Its worth looking into the weight rating (if there is such a thing) of the tripods before you buy.

I was looking at one the other day which had a hook under the centre pole that you could hook your camera bag onto or extra ballast to stabilise the tripod. It seemed like a really good idea to me, anything that stops the thing from blowing over is a win IMHO.

I use a Manfrotto Tripod, quite steep at £150ish with a decent head but can't rate it enough. Very sturdy indeed!

One thing you might want to consider is the maximum extension of the tripod so you can work at a height that will be comfortable for you.

I had a Manfrotto too, around £160's worth, I paid a bit less 2nd hand on eBay. Ive since sold it to Ian......by far the best one ive owned (had a few). Build quality is great, keep an eye on eBay for one if thats what you want go for!

edit: youve already bought one, oh well. lol.
