You're trying to flog a dead horse tuning a 1.2 mate as unless you spend a lot of money it isn't going to peddle any faster.

Make it look and sound nice mate, lower it, nice rims, tidy it up, filter + exhaust, de-dented and a detail.

Heard those electric superchargers are pretty good.

In all seriousness, if you're looking at getting performance out of a 1.2? Don't bother. I've been there and there's not much you can do to it to make it worthwhile.

If you have to mod it, lower it, some nice alloys and make it look nice. Maybe an exhaust and air filter if you want it to be loud.

Then save for a 172.

Or the money spent on wheels and suspension and extra insurance could have bought you a half decent 172..

As for exhaust and air filter... Noisy cars with <80hp are hilariously embarrassing for all involved, including innocent passers by.

As above. Spend your money on fuel, tyres, MOT's, servicing etc.
That'll be enough to keep you spending for a while.

THen, when you've got enough no claims and experience under your belt, chop the shopping trolley in for something faster/nicer/better/comfier/whatever.

After 5 years in a shitty Corsa diesel (spec as vauxhall intended) with full NCB to my name I could get myself a nice coupe for (relatively) cheap insurance. I'd also got the money in the bank to pay for it, since it wasn't all slashed away on spraying bodytrim, changing seats, lowering etc.
