LOL you youngsters must be bloody crazy paying all that money for insurance. I never paid that much. But then again all through my teens and early twenties I had a succession of sh*t cars culminating in a Metro Studio 2. My mates Fiat Fiorino van was quicker off the mark. Im gutted Im not the oldest valver owner though.
My first car beats the Metro...it was an N reg brown Austin Allegro with a tan fake leather interior AND yes it was the model with the SQUARE steering wheel!!!!! 1300ccs of pure power, I removed the wheel and replaced it with a tiny sports wheel and also put a T bar shifter on it....what was I thinking?! I used to race up and down the bypass near to me timing it to 60..11.8 was the best time. All the Escort MKII posse were so jealous......
Your CRAZY !! A valver is not a car to start in !! you need a crappy 1.2 that you can bash about a bit !! If you crash this one you could kill yourself !! NUTTER !!
Yeah when i had my 1.2 and i was 17 i was WILD !! Bent a fookin subframe going 30mph sideways into a curb !! Now ive grown up a bit and know what the limits of the cars are etc i feel confident enough to own one !! In heinsite i wouldnt have a valver as a first car !! Theres a reason the insurance is expensive !! Dont become a statistic mate !!
I had an Escort 1.8i 16v Ghia for my first car (well shared with me dad)
Took exactly 6 weeks from when I passed my test to when I smashed over a roundabout and nearly through a fence. Took em 8 weeks to fix it. It was too fast for me at 17 and thats no where near as quick as my valva!
Also that was a safe car to crash in, Clios are about as safe as brittle bones on a bouncy castle.

Yeah that was my dads view on the subject, ive got the money to get it insured so i might do it when im 17 but yeah it would be a bit dangerous. I might just keep it in the garage till im about 20 then bring it out. I think my dads enjoyin drivin it at the moment cos he crashed his motorbike so for now i can get him to keep it serviced. Its like a free rent car for him.
Clios are about as good as a chocolate kettle in an accident. Some one I know was in a Willy that went in to a tree at relativly low speed. (30-40ish)
Took the fire bregade a few hours to cut the car to peices to get him out. Think he broke everything and everything next to it!
Doesnt help having fiber glass wings either!
